TeeBee's summer hair - goth mohawk

My darling son TeeBee made me shave his hair into his usual summer hairdo, Goth mohawk, past bedtime last night simply because he wanted to have liberty spikes at todays midsummer party at daycare.

He is just too cool I think!

I always leave his "sideburns" because it reminds me of how little China boys were shaved many centuries ago.

I think this style of mohawk is called a death mohawk nowadays? When not formed to liberty spikes, that is..

Goth shoes - Summer edition

I got a request to give tips about goth shoes to wear at summer.
I myself do use the same shoes all year around simply because I love having hot, sweaty feet cool boots.
But I also have a more summer goth shoe collection.
I'm no fan of high heels (not true, I drool over high heel goth shoes)  mainly because I want to be able to wear the same shoe for a whole day without any pain.
Sure, I'm goth, we love self inflicted pain, but this is too hard core for me.

I like platform shoes. I like comfortable shoes. I like pretty goth shoes.
How hard can it be to combine these 3???

I just found this picture (have no idea where to buy it though), and this shoe is something I could wear at summer. But why isn't the sole black as well?
I would probably change the shoe laces to a pretty ribbon and paint a bat on the side  :)

My Music Mondays: Style Icon special - Adam Ant

Style Icon Special is not necessarily about music I love, but style icons I've came across over the years that made an impact.
I'm totally shallow and only care about the pretty looks.

Wanna read more go here.

Style Icon - Adam Ant
singer of Adam & The Ants
For me it just was something about his glossy lips and high cheek bones I couldn't shake.
He remained quite a dashing man for decades.

I loved his look so much that I have made my darling husband "be him" at various 80's theme partys in current time.
And I do think he made the look justice <3
(but I have kissed the gloss of his lips)

Powernap and sausage

It was so hot and nice at my in-laws that I happened to fall asleep and as a woke up someone stuffed a sausage in my mouth.

How lovely! If that's not vacation I don't know what's is!

I'm in the newspaper

You know I told you a while back I had done something very unusual as for being me?

The unusual thing was I agreed to be interviewed for a "regular" paper. I kind off never do that!

Today (Saturday) was the interview in the paper and of cause I had to look it over.

Both photographer M.M. and journalist L.L. were super professional and I liked the piece.

Since I'm trying out for The Best Mum award this year; I said "-Screw dinner, let's buy ice cream for dinner and pay with dads gold card instead!"
Kids said "-Yeah!!!!"

Celebrating my kids cousins examination day

My husband's part of the family is celebrating J today!
In Sweden it's called "ta studenten" when you finished all the school years, so it's his examination day.

Very nice news is that he has gotten a job as well! Well, two actually - a bartender job and working a construction site.
He finished Esthetic with music.

Now I'm just waiting for the food to arrive...
...eating grissini, cheese squares and drinking water while waiting.
I'm gonna starv to death!!!!!

Tonight's party

The 80's is over once again.
As a teen with short, bleached Annie Lennox hair and hopelessly in love with Boy George made a promise to the future me to grow out my hair, color it black, make skinny braids all over with colorful ribbons attached, wear a top hat and always look as Boy George.

That never did happen (I'm sorry to say), so it makes me so happy to be able to be that future me I always wanted to be whenever there is an 80's party.
On the inside I AM that Boy George girl!
He was my first love - so you might say I have a crush on myself tonight!
-Ahh, what a pretty boy!

I'm at a party

Went as Boy George as usual.
My husband is an 80's "synthare".

Today's make up

I went for polar bear ears today.

And - no - contrary to what people in the rest of the world seems to think - we do NOT have polar bears walking the streets in Sweden.

Using alcoholics to teach the kids math. Part 2

My post about teaching the kids mathemathics using the local alcoholics made some readers a bit sad and disappointed.
The other day I found this post on another blog:
From Annieellen, a girl with an alcoholic dad:

The first rows are in Swedish and says:
"Today I was reading one of my favorite blogs, Adora BatBrat and was confronted by a history I just NEEDS to ask you -what do you think about this..?"

Translation of the Swedish at the end:
"Okay, I might be odd. Perhaps a bit sensitive, when it comes to this subject. But I DON'T find this funny at all. But of course I know she doesn't mean any harm by it...BUT it is still NOT funny. The end."

I send her this message (translation at the end):

"Hej, Annieellen

Love,
A
"

 "Hi, Annieellen
I'm truely sorry if what I wrote made you feel concerned, but I did not have any intentions to make people feel bad about what I wrote.
I didn't write anything mean about alcoholics, but emphasis was on how to use mathematics in your dayly life. If there had been old ladies or hip-hoppers sitting there I would have used them instead.

I often talked to the alcoholics when I worked as a garden architect, and know their different storys well - something my kids also knows. Not many kids today can explain why a person is an alcoholic as narrating as mine can.
Respect and humor CAN go hand in hand :)

Love,
A"

I'd like to point out that I wrote NOTHING mean about alcoholics in my first post, or said anything mean while I spoke to my kids. I just asked them if they could count the alcoholics sitting on benches.
And they could!

I didn't laugh AT the alcoholics, but I admit I laughed at the kids cuteness as I told my husband about it later.
You have to admit hearing a child say "-It's one alcoholic on one bench..." and so on, is "cute-funny". Even if they had said "-It's one hip-hopper on one bench...." it still sounds funny!

For those who's not familiar with the term alcoholic, and think an alcoholic and someone who drinks at a few parties every year is the same thing, here is a link explaining the whole thing.
I'm not saying you are stupid because you are not familiar with the term.
http://dailypicksandflicks.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/i-am-not-alcoholic-alcoholics-go-to-meetings.jpg
And perhaps people in other contries aren't familiar with how it is in Sweden (didn't think of that), but here every town's got their own local alcoholics hanging out in public places; like the park at the playground, outside the supermarket and on sunny benches in the town center. They also often talks to by-passers, as kids.

So, you see, kids in Sweden are TOO familiar with alcoholics as a regular part of their daily life and therefor you need to explain to them what an alcoholic is when they ask why those men (often) smells like pee, walks strange and talks spluttering. Sad, but true.
Most local alcoholics are quite calm and do no harm, but many are intrusive and scare the kids with their way.
Alcoholism is classified as a disease, but to kids they are just scary and smells.

Adora 20:00

Driving our SAAB 95 aero sport combi home.
Such a sweet ride!

The kids have been so sweet and lovely all day long. We made sure to tell them how much we appreciated the day with them. And that they gave us such a wonderful National day <3
Thanks, kids!
And according to them we got highest grades as well.

Adora 18:00

The classic soft ice cream at IKEA before leaving Kalmar.

Having ecological crepes with spinach and a salad at IKEA.

Singing the national anthem.
Walking behind the flag bearers to the BIG church.

I waved to all the people that came to celebrate me, Sweden's Goth Princess.

Then I went into the church and said "hi" to Jesus, and wished him a nice day.

Adora 15:00

At the Kalmar Castle.

We found a shop where you could buy princess crowns like the ones used in the 12th century. Of course I bought one to my collection! Costly, though...
Can't wait to wear it!
