Halloween make up and Adora pregnant pictures

2006 we were invited to a small Halloween cake party.
Since I have always painted something on my belly a couple of days before I think it's time for delivery this came in handy.
The BIG belly made a perfect pumpkin :)
Little prince TeeBee inside was born 3'd of November 2006, 2 days after the picture was made.
I had gained 22 kilos on this picture!! Whoa! Some scary Halloween!

It's not easy painting on your belly without a mirror and the belly so huge you can't see beneath the "waist".
This is what I painted on my belly before Synthia was born:
Princess Synthia inside, 2 days before delivery as well. I only gaind 13 kilos since she came 2 months too early weighing only 1,8 kilos. She was born with a catastrophic caesarean section 2 days after this picture was made, on the 9'th of August 2003.

And before Fairlight:
Princess no 2; Fairlight got a pink kitten. She was born 7 days after the picture was made. The 11'th of April 2005. I gained 20 kilos with her.

It's truely a wonder I got back to my skinny self watching these pictures - but I did!
And you know I did it using the Montignac Method only (and after the breast feeding was done with).

Old picture of the day

Aww, look at baby me - I look so cute!

This is 2003 so I'm "only" 31 on the picture and our first daughter, Synthia, is 4 months.
Yes, I did use silver spray on the rest of my hair, but the bangs was colored with Directions Silver.

How we celebrate Swedish Midsummer

Christmas and Midsummer are the biggest holiday celebrations in Sweden.
This German commercial by IKEA was banned because it was supposedly offencive? No Swedes I've ever talked to think so -this IS how it's done! I can totally relate to it - I've been to Midsummer fests like this!

This Midsummer we watched it again, and the only things we didn't agree on in the commercial is the fighting and the tossing of the food. We should never do that - waste food like that?!
Everything else just made us nod our heads and send around the bottle marked with an X one more time ;)
Why should we feel offended by the truth? Truth is - we are not. Stupid person who banned this.
See how happy we are celebrating!

Using alcoholics to teach the kids math. Part 2

My post about teaching the kids mathemathics using the local alcoholics made some readers a bit sad and disappointed.
The other day I found this post on another blog:
From Annieellen, a girl with an alcoholic dad:

The first rows are in Swedish and says:
"Today I was reading one of my favorite blogs, Adora BatBrat and was confronted by a history I just NEEDS to ask you -what do you think about this..?"

Translation of the Swedish at the end:
"Okay, I might be odd. Perhaps a bit sensitive, when it comes to this subject. But I DON'T find this funny at all. But of course I know she doesn't mean any harm by it...BUT it is still NOT funny. The end."

I send her this message (translation at the end):

"Hej, Annieellen

Love,
A
"

 "Hi, Annieellen
I'm truely sorry if what I wrote made you feel concerned, but I did not have any intentions to make people feel bad about what I wrote.
I didn't write anything mean about alcoholics, but emphasis was on how to use mathematics in your dayly life. If there had been old ladies or hip-hoppers sitting there I would have used them instead.

I often talked to the alcoholics when I worked as a garden architect, and know their different storys well - something my kids also knows. Not many kids today can explain why a person is an alcoholic as narrating as mine can.
Respect and humor CAN go hand in hand :)

Love,
A"

I'd like to point out that I wrote NOTHING mean about alcoholics in my first post, or said anything mean while I spoke to my kids. I just asked them if they could count the alcoholics sitting on benches.
And they could!

I didn't laugh AT the alcoholics, but I admit I laughed at the kids cuteness as I told my husband about it later.
You have to admit hearing a child say "-It's one alcoholic on one bench..." and so on, is "cute-funny". Even if they had said "-It's one hip-hopper on one bench...." it still sounds funny!

For those who's not familiar with the term alcoholic, and think an alcoholic and someone who drinks at a few parties every year is the same thing, here is a link explaining the whole thing.
I'm not saying you are stupid because you are not familiar with the term.
http://dailypicksandflicks.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/i-am-not-alcoholic-alcoholics-go-to-meetings.jpg
And perhaps people in other contries aren't familiar with how it is in Sweden (didn't think of that), but here every town's got their own local alcoholics hanging out in public places; like the park at the playground, outside the supermarket and on sunny benches in the town center. They also often talks to by-passers, as kids.

So, you see, kids in Sweden are TOO familiar with alcoholics as a regular part of their daily life and therefor you need to explain to them what an alcoholic is when they ask why those men (often) smells like pee, walks strange and talks spluttering. Sad, but true.
Most local alcoholics are quite calm and do no harm, but many are intrusive and scare the kids with their way.
Alcoholism is classified as a disease, but to kids they are just scary and smells.

Using alcoholics to teach the kids math

I like to imply math for the kids using our environment.
Yesterday we went by the place where our local drunks hangs out.

I asked: How many alcoholics are on every bench?
They answered unanimously: 1 on the first bench, then 3 on the next one, and one on the last.
Good, I said (since I've heard you should always give credits to kids).

How many alcoholics are there in total, and on how many benches?
- 5 alcoholics on 3 benches, they said.
Mummy Adora BatBrat could not be prouder of her little geniuses.

You should totally try this at home! I just couldn't stop laughing when I told my loved husband.
He thought it was cruel. Obviously he's got no sense of humor!

TeeBee and the robot

Darling TeeBee was invited to a birthday party to a boy from daycare later today. We made the gift look like a robot. So sweet!

What was in it?

The same skull tee-shirt TeeBee is wearing :)

Now they can be shirt-twins...

My kids: disco tonight

Fairlight and Synthia all dolled up for tonight's school disco.

Aww, mum Adora was so proud when Synthia said she wanted black lipstick :)

Now I'm sick as well!

Since Synthia got the "Winter puke disease", as it's called in Sweden, I have just counted the seconds until it's my time. It's unbelivable contagious and I have shared bed with her sinceFriday.
An accident about to happen you might say...
Worst part is I'm stuck in my bedroom with her and she's only watching annoying kids TV all the time.
I try to sleep as much as possible and she's kind enough to to wake me up for "Vampireshool" and "Phineas and Ferb".

Old picture of the day and Best buy

Demonia Trashville boots are the best!
Even as a pregnant girl they were so comfortable! I can really recommend everyone to get a pair - pregnant or not.
Look how effortless I carry Fairlight on my hip (and TeeBee in my tummy), just like an accessoire. All because of those shoes.

I have both the buckles and the "buck-less" (hahaha, what a lousy joke) ones, both in glossy, glossy.
I prefer the ones without buckles since it makes my legs look so much longer.
Buy them at X-tra-x for €99 here.
They also sell the buckle Trashvilles, €109.

Dollhouse: Red velvet armchair

Don't ask me how, but I remember fragments of thick paper cut in shape, fleece covered with red velvet, a few stitches and some glue...and a hell of a lot of luck.

Fairlight's leopard outfit

My princess Fairlight got a green stick fracture at school Wednesday :(

She got it from falling from a swing while trying to break some record...

Today she was invited for a birthday party at a "kids play-land". She wanted to be dressed like and wear leopard make up.
Although having a cast she was running around more than the other kids! She's a trooper <3

She looks so good wearing leopard prints!

Todays make up

On my way to have a meeting with Fairlight s teacher to know about her progress in school.
I hope I will only hear words as "perfect ", "kind", "happy", "friendly" and stuff like that.
But as a Goth mum I wouldn't mind hearing she tried to bite her classmates, play games where people are supposed to die and tell the kids scary stories about vampires, zombies and werewolfs so they can't sleep at night. That'd be okay too!
But most important is that she seems happy!

Gingerbread house

Christmas is far gone...but the snow just landed in my town so we got a Christmas feeling and made a gingerbread house!

5 kids helped me to decorate it with tons of candy.

And then the kids have invited a few friends over for a gingerbread house slaughter!

I hope I can fight myself a blue candy.

It will probably look like a flock of hungry wolves attacking a small bird when the kids dig in.

Hope I'll have my fingers left afterwards.

Dollhouse: Pool part 3

Chocolate box turned into a pool area!
It's just some minor details left. I'm thinking about adding some white tiles around the pools as well.

I should so win an award for this one!

Dollhouse: Pool part 2

First step done. I'm very impressed by myself so far!

Now it's time for some Lego time with my son TeeBee who's always home on Tuesdays. Suits me perfect today since I'm down with a small fever and massive headache.

Sneeze, sneeze and sneeze all day long. Poor me have not even make up on!

THAT'S how bad it is..

Dollhouse: Pool

The dollhouse needs a pool the kids said.

An old chocolate box, a roll from a tape and some print outs of grass, pool water and a brick wall might do it?

Will be interesting to see how this will turn out..

Kids sick all around

My poor Fairlight and TeeBee is sick :(
Fairlight's got nettle-rash all over her body. She says she looks like a leopard.
It's some allergic reaction to something we don't know. But doctor's gave her some medicine and salve to make it better.
But I will probably be a bitch mom and nag until she gets an allergy test.
TeeBee is suffering from high fever and complains about having a sore throat.
At daycare they told me both scarlet fever, impetigo and strep throat are going around amongst the kids right now... poor TB.
When I called the doctor they said to wait until tomorrow to come see them if he still suffered from a sore throat then.

So today: much cuddling, movies and goth mommy was sweet and made the kids small pancakes for dinner. A pamper mom, I know, but it's awful seeing them sick and not being able to help.
Small pancakes helps a bit :)
Tomorrow Iwill be serving them another favourite just to spoil them even more: turnip mash and pork sausage. Whiiii, I'm the best mom there is!!!

Sunday ice capades!

In my attempt to stay true to my Sunday Goth coolness I tried out a new activity since last Sundays theater was fun - and that's not cool.
Digged out my old ice skates that'd been in hiding since the last decade (more like 15 years).
Ice is cool so it might just done the trick!
But it was a pure BatBambi on ice I can tell you!

I fell on my pretty behind ONCE and of course my husband caught it on video!
But once again I had fun, so this won't quality as a cool Sunday Goth activity either.
But I will not rest until I've discovered the perfect cool Goth thing to do on a Sunday!

Busy with birthday baking

Phuh, this week is Autumn holiday week for school kids so I've had the kids at home almost every day this week <3
Been a good mum and made them bake, watched Lego StarWars movie, painted and play games with them all week. It's been very nice, but GOD it left me drained. I can't wait until Monday when they start school again!
Tomorrow is TeeBee's Birthday party for the relatives so I have a LOT to do.
I've done a few things so far...(but the stupid video didn't want to be uploaded...)
